4G63 Revisions/production
"Mitsubishi 4G63 Forklift Engines are manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors Engine Manufacturing Co Ltd through its Kyoto engine plant in collaboration with Diamond-Star Motors, which is based in Illinois."
"The 4G63 was designed in Japan in the early 80's and made it's debut around 1985 or so. It debuted in the DSM platform in 1989. It's purely a Japanese engine."
Plants
- Shenyang Aerospace Mitsubishi Motors Engine Manufacturing Co Ltd[1]
- Mitsubishi Motors Engine Manufacturing Co Ltd, Kyoto engine plant
- Diamond-Star Motors, Normal, Illinois[2]
"90-early 92 used 6bolts... late 92-99 used 7bolts. Starting at some point in 95 DSMs started using 4g63s that were manufactured in the states... & this is one of the theories behind crankwalk."
"According to several sources, the U.S. version of the 4G63 was produced in Normal, Illinois by Diamond-Star Motors, a joint-venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler."

98/99 Revision
"Not sure if the crank girdle is accessible. If i can see the 3rd journal in on cuddle. This is what a 98 or 99 looks like"
99 Revision

Visual
Ok if the crank angle sensor is located on the left side of the motor and clearly visable by the PVC valve then it is either a...1st Gen motor or a 97+ motor. 95-96 motors do NOT have the CAS on the side of the motor, it's hidden.
